Alpaca Silk Cardigan

I finished the Nineveh cardigan by DROPS Design using DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk. It was an easy pattern to follow, though I made a few modifications to it. I knitted the cardigan a little longer and with full-length sleeves. I changed the neckline to fit me better and added the yarnover pattern to it to match the hems. I shaped the sleeves a little differently as well to make them look more like bell sleeves. In addition, for the button bands I used 2 knit-1 purl rows, instead of garter stitch pattern, because I didn't like the shorter row gauge of the garter stitch bands or having to stretch out an already delicate material. These were not the buttons I envisioned for this cardigan, but I don't dislike them either. Overall, I am very happy with the end result. I especially love the flowy A-line shape of the piece and the bell sleeves. As I mentioned in other posts, I really enjoy working with this yarn. It is very soft and light and the lacy yoke in this pattern makes it look even more delicate.

Can I ask did you use a double strands of yarn. I what to use this wool on a different pattern but don't know if I need to order double the amount.

Hi Karen,
I knitted with a single strand of the Brushed Alpaca Silk on US8/5mm needles, but my gauge was a little tighter than the suggested gauge (19st/4"/10cm). I hope it helps. Good luck with your project!
