Welcome to my blog!
My name is Andrea. I learned how to knit as a child but don't remember knitting much until I was an adult. My grandmother taught me how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off, but that was all of my knitting knowledge. When I was in graduate school, I often knitted scarves, when my science experiments weren't working. I loved going to yarn shops, picking out pretty and interesting yarns, and making them into scarves. Somehow, knitting a new scarf often cleared away mental blocks, allowing me to solve seemingly impossible problems. By the time I finished my Ph.D., I had a huge Rubbermaid container full of scarves. And I don't even like wearing scarves. About 4 years ago I became more serious about knitting. I got tired of making scarves and wanted to make something more challenging. I learned how to read and follow patterns but also designed and created my own pieces. In the last 4 years I ended up knitting 27 cardigans, 16 pullovers, 7 bags, 6 shirts, 3 dresses, 3 hats, and 3 pairs of mittens. Each piece I made had something new and challenging about it. Knitting became my hobby and relaxation. Along the way, I also discovered that my knitting style is combination knitting, which combines the elements of Eastern- and Western-style knitting. I decided to start my own blog to showcase my creations and to connect with other people, who also love knitting.
|This is my dog, Chance. He loves sleeping by my feet, while I knit. Knitting relaxes him, too. 😊|
