Cozy Boucle Cardigan

Not being able to go to yarn stores yet or to order yarn from my favorite online retailer, the Wool Warehouse, has been forcing me to go through my stash. About a year ago I started knitting a wrap cardigan from black DROPS Alpaca Boucle; however, I fell out of love with the project before I could finish it. I frogged it and debated whether to make a cowl-neck pullover or a long cardigan from the yarn, but I didn't get to it until now.

Hand-knitted long cardigan with black boucle yarn

This time I decided on an oversized raglan cardigan. I didn't use a pattern and just made it up as I went on. I kept the pattern very simple, as I couldn't quite see the stitches and rows knitted with this black boucle yarn. Actually, I had to insert stitch markers in the sleeves every few rows to ensure that they had the same number of rows. In addition, I ended up wearing a head lamp while knitting the pockets onto the cardigan, because my floor lamps were not strong enough to light up the stitches. I imagined it with 3 large buttons but didn't find the right buttons online. So I left them off and will close the cardigan with a shawl pin instead, when feeling cold.

I love how this cardigan turned out. It fits me just right and feels incredibly soft and light. I continue to be amazed by the quality and feel of DROPS yarns. DROPS Alpaca Boucle is now among my favorite yarns. Though next time I may order a lighter color, as it may show my stitch work better.
